Matt Moomaw
Founder
Since 2004, Capitol Roofing and Solar owner and founder Matt Moomaw has called Colorado home. As a former wildland firefighter with the USFS and crewmember of the San Juan Hotshots, Matt learned on the fire line what it means to lead a team and the importance of doing a job right the first time.
After a number of years working with other owner-operators and learning the roofing business inside and out, Matt founded Capitol Roofing so that he could do things the right way every time. Matt is dedicated to customer service, building a company that values transparency and dedication to the entire process, from start to finish.
Matt has a BA in psychology from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and an MA in clinical psychology from the University of Colorado, Denver. As an avid skier and mountain biker, Matt keeps the Capitol Roofing office close to the trails in Golden so he and the team can enjoy "morning rides."
Jim Morrison
Operations & Claims Management
Jim joined our sales and project management team in 2024 after spending time working in disaster restoration with national franchises SERVPRO and 911 Restoration. Prior, Jim was here in Colorado working with a variety of insurance carriers in managed repair programs. Texas All-Lines adjuster trained, Jim has extensive experience in scoping all types of losses and is Xactimate/Symbility certified.
Jim has a degree in Law and Public Affairs from Indiana University and when he is not out on a roof or writing estimates, you can find him hitting the trails on his bike!
Ben Banuelos
Ben Roofing, LLC
Ben is one of the backbones of our team. Specializing as an asphalt and metal roofing tradesman, Ben has worked closely with Matt since 2019. When it comes to quality workmanship, attention to detail, and great team leadership, Ben is second to none. He’s known for being exceedingly polite, working hard, taking care of his crew, and making sure the job is finished at a high level.
Wesley Moraes
TLC Construction, LLC
Wesley is the true Jack AND Master of all trades. Often doing double duty as our foreman, Wesley and Matt have worked closely together since 2016 on countless projects. Whether its siding or windows, decks or framing, when Wesley is on the job, the results are superb.

Sadly we lost our best boy Mr. Hanko in March 2025, at the ripe young age of 15 ½. Hank was truly born “sunny side up” and brought joy and light to everyone he met. We miss him everyday.
