Capitol Roofing and Solar was named after a big project that owner Matt Moomaw had the honor of working on - the Colorado State Capitol Building in Denver, CO!
We work on roofing projects big and small, and have experience with all types of residential and commercial roofs. The Capitol Roofing team also works with all major insurance companies, and we're expert negotiators with adjusters and underwriters so that you receive the full benefit allowed by your policy. If you are feeling anxious about working with insurance companies, you can rest easy knowing that we are very knowledgeable about this process and can lead you through it.
Capitol Roofing is proud to support our community by donating up to 1% of each roofing project to local Denver and Boulder area charities.
Whether you are interested in installing solar panels or shingles, need a new roof or are dealing with storm or wind damage, the Capitol Roofing team has you covered! We carry licenses for all local municipalities located in the greater Denver area and foothills, including Boulder, Denver and Golden, CO.
Meet the Capitol Roofing and Solar Team
Matt Moomaw, Founder
Since 2004, Capitol Roofing and Solar owner and founder Matt Moomaw has called Colorado home. As a former wildland firefighter with the USFS and crewmember of the San Juan Hotshots, Matt learned on the fire line what it means to lead a team and the importance of doing a job right the first time.
After a number of years working with other owner-operators and learning the roofing business inside and out, Matt founded Capitol Roofing so that he could do things the right way every time. Matt is dedicated to customer service, building a roofing company that values transparency and dedication to the entire roofing and exterior renovation process, from start to finish.
Matt has a BA in psychology from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and an MA in clinical psychology from the University of Colorado, Denver. As an avid skier and mountain biker, Matt keeps the Capitol Roofing office close to the trails in Golden so he and the team can enjoy "morning rides."
Rich Grote, Roofing and solar advisor
After 20 years growing software startups and helping homeowners go solar, joining the Capitol Roofing team was an easy decision for Rich. With a commitment to exceptional customer care and transparency, Rich is here to leverage his experience to help our clients take care of their single biggest assets - their homes!
When he's not on the job, Rich enjoys spending time with his 2 dogs and biking out on the trails.
Jim Morrison, Project Manager
Jim joined our sales and project management team in 2024 after spending time working in disaster restoration with national franchises SERVPRO and 911 Restoration. Prior, Jim was here in Colorado working with a variety of insurance carriers in managed repair programs. Texas All-Lines adjuster trained, Jim has extensive experience in scoping all types of losses and is Xactimate/Symbility certified.
Addison Denney, solar expert
Juan Banuelos: JPB Construction
Jose Gomez, JGR Roofing
Jose is the backbone of our team. He's the expert when it comes to high quality service and amazing workmanship, which is why he is our go-to person for residential roofing projects. Originally from Honduras, he currently lives in Denver with his wife, Liz, and daughter, Yasmin. When he's not on top of a roof, he enjoys his free time in the outdoors playing soccer, running, and fishing!
Alex & Beto Rodriguez: Easy & Fast Construction
Alex and Beto are a father and son team who specialize in all types of roofing. These guys are the only choice for Capitol’s commercial low-slope roofing projects. They’ve been part of Matt’s chosen team since 2017 and were the crew he used during the roofing restoration of the Historic Governor’s Residence at Boettcher Mansion in downtown Denver. They both live in Denver. Alex and his wife were blessed with a new baby boy in late 2020.
Hank the Dog, Quality Control and Customer Relations Expert
Hank has been with Capitol from the very beginning. In the early days of his career, he specialized in bringing sticks for crew members to throw for him and doling out lots of love to anyone with hands to pet him.
These days, Hank spends most of his time making sure things are just right on the job site and that everyone stays as happy as he is. He enjoys long hikes, absolutely loves the snow, and is a connoisseur of unguarded sandwiches. Hank was truly born “sunny side up” and brings joy and light to everyone he meets.
We wouldn’t be able to provide this level of stellar service without our partners!
